There are many different types of wheelchair stair lifts.

In the home

Wheelchair lifts in the home may not be for everyone, as generally it can mean a lot of building work has to be carried out in order for the lift to be able to pass through a ceiling onto the upper floor. This can prove to be expensive and disruptive to the household during works, but could be the ideal solution for the wheelchair bound person, giving added independence and access to upper floors. Some homes have been built with access via steps and where there is no option to add a ramp for access a wheelchair stair lift could prove to be the solution.

In the workplace

Many workplaces already have elevators, but not all are big enough to carry a wheelchair. Sadly this prohibits handicapped persons from access to many work environments and being able to take up jobs for which they are more than qualified.

The cost for ripping out existing elevators and installing new elevators can be prohibitive, the cost effective solution could be the installation of a wheelchair stair lift. There are many highly talented and qualified handicapped people, who are prohibited from working and sharing their knowledge and expertise simply because they can’t gain access either to the building or to upper floors because of steps.

Access to buildings

Many buildings are accessed by steps some have a ramp to enable the handicapped access, but sadly many buildings have no access for the handicapped. A simple platform wheelchair stair lift on the outside of the building would allow safe access for the handicapped. Buildings such as churches, public and government buildings, stadiums etc. could all benefit from wheelchair stair lift access for their handicapped patrons.

Hotels

Many hotels have elevators inside the building but only have access to the hotel via steps. By the simple addition of a wheelchair stair lift handicapped people would easily be able to access the hotel bringing additional revenue to the business.

Many handicapped people who have to use wheelchairs have families, and the restrictions put on the wheelchair user is also put on the children and partners or parents, because if the handicapped person isn’t able to access a hotel for example then the party will take their business elsewhere.

Not all people in wheelchairs have a long term handicap and may only have use the wheelchair till their condition improves, for example they may have broken bones which will with time heal, but with no wheelchair stair lift available may have to miss work, or school, cancel an important meeting or a holiday, simply because they can’t either get inside the building or to upper floors.
